JDZ (or whoever wrote the piece I'm responded to) thinks that's preposterous. Why is it preposterous? Because back in the day when witches were burned and black people were enslaved, the homeless didn't fare any better than the way the City of Los Angeles want to treat them. What an argument! But it gets better. Allowing ones self the luxury of going to sleep in a public place, after having been awake for prehaps days, is categorized as yet another form of "irresponsible behavior," along with drunk driving, or worse-- molesting children, or brutally murdering people for sexual pleasure, Ã la Ted Bundy. If you think this "argument" to be absurd, that's simply because you missed an important factor: if a person is homeless, it's simply because he or she has had a few too many bottles of Thunderbird (fine Scotch Whisky will never do this to you). If you thought it had something to do with the Walmartization of of the U.S. economy and the consequent reduction of real wages, tax cuts for the rich, welfare cuts for the poor, or escalating rents, silly you. Nobody but "Willie the Wino" who buys the cheap stuff, rather than the expensive stuff, is truly homeless. What you've read about homeless children is nothing but liberal lies spread by the liberal news media, such as Fox News.
