"The most outstanding characteristic of the portrait that Obama draws of his white mother, who also serves as a stand-in for white liberal readers of his book, is her hatred for power — a characteristic that her son finds naive and contemptible. “Power. The word fixed in my mother’s mind like a curse,” Obama wrote, of his mother’s response to the inequities of Indonesian society. “Guilt is a luxury that only foreigners can afford,” her husband Lolo responds. “Like saying whatever pops into your head.”

That is a GREAT insight by Samuels.

I think, should he win (and that would be a disaster) Obama will be in for some rude awakenings.

I was a naive, dopey kid like Obama, BUT fin my case and in my defense I was TWELVE!

I once remarked to my long-suffering Conservative Dad, while riding though a wealthy neighborhood, "These people have too much, we should divide up all the money equally, so that some don't have so much, while others have so little."

When my father (a Depression-era kid and WW-II vet) couldn't stand that kind of naive stupidity any longer he shouted, "Look, IF there were some way to divide up all the money equally and we did that, THESE (sweeping his hands at the row of beautiful homes) who'd have it all back within five years. THESE are the most ruthless and hard-driven people around."

My Dad was without question right and I was a dumb kid who believed the nutty things I learned from even dumber and more naive social studies teachers.

America has become complacent and spoiled, but what Obama and the nitwits in groups like ACORN don't get is that THEY'RE the weak ones, they're the ones who've sprung from groups that have gotten their asses kicked and their bones grinded every time Whites have had to look for new worlds to conquer.
