Name: Voter Participation Day

Purpose: To get more people involved in the electoral process by allowing them time off to vote and to commemorate the election of Barack Obama as the first American of African descent to become President of the United States.

From an historical perspective, the election of Barack Obama as President of the United States is important because it showed that 66,354,468 Americans who voted for him were able to look past the color of his skin and judge him by his leadership ability and character.

January 20, 2009 @ 12 Noon. ……Kansas Prayer & Praise Inaugural Obama Swearing In Ceremony will be hosted by Bias Busters of Kansas at the Historic Downtown Topeka Ramada Inn, to coincide with the Washington, D.C. Ceremony!

1/20/2009 @ 8 p.m. till 12:00 a.m……Kansas Inaugural Celebration at the Historic Downtown Ramada Inn, have a slice of Obama Swirl Cake! Special Performance: Will. I. Am: Front man and producer of the Black-Eyes Peas; first time ever in Topeka, KS; He attended Obama’s Victory Speech in Chicago, then went to the studio and recorded a song in his honor (Performers for 1.20.2008); Big Woody’s Blues Revue/KS Old School DJ Peewee/Comic Relief with Vickie Tremble.

Subject: British National to Create Kansas Inaugural Obama Swirl Cake
England’s Thanksgiving Gift To America: Obama Swirl Cake

Topeka, Kansas….........Chris Bentley of England, member of Kansas’ Obama Inauguration Committee, offered his services to oversee the creation of the Obama Swirl Cake. Chris is looking for volunteers; he is making an open appeal to artists to help with the creation of the Cake.

One suggestion is to have a picture of Obama and children of all nationalities raising the American Flag. The group is open to all suggestions.

The cake will also have the Dunham/Payne of Kansas/11.04.2008 (who are Obama’s mother’s family) insignia.

The Obama Swirl Cake coincides with a cake depicting Abraham Lincoln during the period of February 22, 1861 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on January 20, 2009 at the Historic Downtown Ramada Inn at 8:00pm.
