I see this a lot in business. Egocentric executives surround themselves with sycophants who work to shape the environment surrounding the executive rather than helping him deal with reality. And then, seemingly out of nowhere, a competitor eats them for lunch. Sadly, all of us will be the lunch. Insightful. I see this a lot in business.
