While recovering from malaria after the Battle of Iwo Jima, he looked 70 years old.

But he was back to normal in December of 1945, when this photo was taken shortly before he received his discharge.

My father was wounded March 1945 on Iwo Jima serving with the 5th Marine Division, “C” Company, 26th Marines. From the son of one Marine and Iwo Jima veteran to the son of another, may their honor and glory live forever. Semper Fi!
