“Coming to America…” Too!

It’s one thing to lose your civilization to an invasion by the barbarians. It’s quite another to invite them in to destroy you.

One theory on Rome’s decline and fall: barbarian invasions. The result hundreds of years of the so-called Dark Ages. History repeats itself.

A few thoughts: 1) this could not happen in a free society. Only one ruled by a relatively small group of fundamentalists with a single, dysfunctional ideology based upon force could drive an entire civilization over a cliff like this. 2) discussions with these fundamentalists are useless. They lack even basic self-awareness and are hostile to any idea that does not accept their core beliefs as a condition for engagement. 3) this is a system that developed evolutionarily and is immune to internal reform. It will require either an outside catalyst or a collapse due to its own internal contradictions (which are legion) in order to change, so in this regard Islam may be a twofer. Lastly, and sadly, the fact that only a child of the concentration camp can write this without being attacked, at least so far, is a commentary on how willfully blind and morally perverse our culture has become. Lastly, no really!, assuming there is some major turbulence ahead in our lifetime, the one sure thing is that those who are truly responsible, progressives of course, will never, never, never accept any part of their responsibility in hollowing out a once great society and culture. They, like their greatest childhood hero, Atticus Finch, have feet of clay.
