“It was Midnight on the Sea, the Band was Playing ‘Nearer, My God, to Thee'”

Watch the Titanic go down in real time.

Needless to say, Jamie Brockett’s Legend of the Titanic (though amusing) is not really at all factual.

RICK

I watched that last night. Since then it has been my delight to have Nearer, My God, To Thee playing in my mind.

What I do not understand is how the one ship (forget the name) was confused so did not aid in rescue or recovery. I looked but did not find any other reference specific to that.

One thing I did find was Marconi system was pretty outdated by 1912. But it remained in use due to Marconi using patent laws to prevent better wireless systems to enter the commercial market. Marconi later said he regretted that. So, I gather the limitations of the Marconi rig caused errors and confusion.

When a video confuses a British-registered commercial liner (RMS) with a U.S. warship (USS), don’t expect a well-researched story.
