Vote For the Democrat!

A FB friend writes:

Out of 16 candidates in the primary, the disaffected Republican electorate cast a little over 3 million votes for Trump, abetted by 12 million democrats voting in open GOP primaries and sent Trump to the convention with majority of the delegates. The GOP shouldn’t have prevented a floor fight, but they did and we now are expected to vote for a democrat on the GOP ticket in the presidential election.

Another friend adds:

Utah has voted Republican since 1964. Trump has been ahead in Texas by about six points and at one stage, by just two. Romney took it by 16. Similar polls are found in other historically red states like Georgia, South Carolina, and Arizona which has been reliably Republican since Ike and has voted Democrat just once in the last 16 presidential elections. People who regularly vote GOP are abandoning the party in droves. And this didn’t start after the Tic Tac tape. In aircraft crashes this is what is called ‘Controlled Flight Into Terrain’. The only thing surprising about all of this is the near-delusional denial by some.

I think those numbers are suspect.

“…Though it is important to note these new primary voters are not all Trump supporters. As TheDC reported Thursday, turnout is up across the board for all candidates. When Texas Sen. Ted Cruz won Wisconsin, he did so with more than double the amount of votes John McCain got when he won the Badger State in 2008.”

No doubt many crossover votes went to Trump, but Republican turnout in general was higher. And some of that crossover vote was blue-collar democrats who I think will vote for Trump.

National polls are meaningless though, since the election hinges on 50 state elections. Trump needs to carry the swiing states, which is may be an uphill battle, but then, we can always think back to the “Dewey defeats Truman” banner headline for consolation.

JDZ– On a previous post you wrote that since the mood of the country was anti-immigration, that either candidate would curtail immigration.

I didn’t get a chance at the time to say: give me some evidence, something concrete that Hillary has said that leads you to believe that.

Even democrats will bow to the anti-immigration constituency. Just wait and watch.
