Frank

Actually your headline “Abramoff Contributions to Democrats” is totally false. Abramoff himself gave all his money to Republicans. All 100%.

Some of his associates and clients, such as casino lobbying groups gave money to people from all different parties in an attempt to get people in all parties to address their issues.

Since Abramoff himself did not give any money to Dems but rather groups he worked as a lobbyist or consultant for did, your headline is factually incorrect, and you should change it to reflect the truth.

American Patriot

I know you’re just doing your part to spread the misinformation. Facts get in the way.

Abramoff was a die-hard republican and bought as many of them as he could.

Boy, talk about quibbling.

The distinction: Abramoff personally donated to Republicans. Whereas, Abramoff professionally, i.e the lobbying organization operated by Abramoff, donated to democrats as well.

Gosh, that really proves that Republicans are corrupt, and democrats are pure as the driven snow, doesn’t it?

Brian

Most of these Members did not receive any money from Abramoff or any money directed by him. They received normal campaign contributions from the tribal PACS or from individuals affiliated with the tribes. No Members of Congress are bought with $1,000 campaign contributions, and a big crook like Abramoff would not have bothered trying to do so when he already the Republican Congressional leadership and committee chairmen in his pocket.

JDZ

I think the FEC records make it quite clear that monies “directed by Abramoff” went to both parties.

Have you forgotten Jim Wright and Tony Coelho back in the mid-90s, Brian?

We expect better from Princeton.

Brian

The Chief of the Missisippi Choctaws contributed to many campaigns long before they had gaming and long before they hired Abramoff. Abramoff did not direct the tribes normal contributions to Congressmen. He billed them millions for his fraudulent schemes and helped Scanlan bill them for millions more that they kept or laundered into Delay, Inc. The legal campaign contributions on your list have nothing to do with the charges against Abramoff or Scanlan or Delay or Ney.
