Hitchcock’s Cameos

,

Alfred Hitchcock had a unique sense of humor, and as a kind of personal signature made a practice of making a cameo appearance in his films. This Hitchcock site has compiled images of 37 out of 41 Hitchcock cameos. My personal favorite is the rather surrealist one (carrying a horn) in Vertigo (1958).

tom

did hitchcock do a cameo in sabotage?

Hitchcock makes a cameo appearance about an hour into the film, standing at a kiosk in front of Cut Rate Drugs in New York as the saboteur’s car pulls up.

These are two movies with similar titles. “Saboteur” (1942) filmed in the U.S. and “Sabotage” (1936) filmed in the U.K.
Hitchcock reportedly does not make a cameo appearance in “Sabotage” (1936). I am suspicious of a man in a bowler with a dark profile that favors the director 2 min 37 sec into the film buying matches from a street vendor during the blackout. What do you think?
