The present situation in Rome provides a good rationale for the existance of the various “independent” religious orders. I am surprised that the “co-cathedral” (?) hasn’t been converted to a fast food emporium.

Alas the crusades were the first recorded cluster fuck. Yes there were heroes and perhaps even saints. Yes some/many of the knights and others were there for the most moral and best reasons. But what a colossal 200 year waste of time, money and lives.
Then to top it off the church ran a crusade to exterminate and torture the Knights Templar. What a sad commentary on religion THAT was. The history of Christianity for centuries was so bad that everything, all the truth and facts, had to be censored and expunged. Shameful !!
