This is the best summary of the current geopolitical situation I have seen. Sir Alex Younger was head of MI6 between 2014 and 2020. Really worth watching. pic.twitter.com/XByVBAd5Ri

Interesting perspective. The part about Afghanistan especially. How was that place whose original government was deposed and a new one created and groomed for 2 decades ours to ‘give away’?
His ‘respect’ for Afghans doing exactly what he says Ukrainians are doing appears to be like that of a British colonial administrator a century ago. As a mentor put it, “The wog bashing begins at Calais” They don’t run the place, ‘we’ do, and Don gave it away.

He is right about the facts on the ground. But he is speaking from a European perspective and to a European audience which expects him to blame the U.S. and talk down the president. I don’t know what Trump and Putin will finally agree to but basing that guess on what Trump has said publicly implies that you haven’t read The Aert of The Deal.
The most important thing he said was that Russia has lost 800,000 soldiers dead or wounded!! That tells me that Ukraine has lost a similar number. That is a frigging disaster and all the more reason to end this somehow, He, like most leaders in the EU wants it to continue. I understand why he does but for Christ’s sake 800,000 dead or wounded!! Is that really Ukraine’s best choice; kill and wound another 800,000 and still in the end have to negotiate a peace deal that will give Russia what it wants.
Funktacular
Trump is preparing to sell-out to Russia and China. As a cultural illiterate and narcissist, Trump assumes that money is the most important thing to everyone. Therefore, he thinks that he can make “deals” with them. The ideological and historical imperatives that drive Putin and Xi are incomprehensible to him.
In 1940, Orwell wrote a great review of Mein Kampf. In it, he noted that Hitler fooled Britain because the latter ignored his rhetoric. They assumed that he was as materialistic as themselves.
Someone that Trump knows nothing about once said that man does not live by bread alone. Xi and Putin, in their twisted way, understand that. El Cheeto Loco does not.

Clearly, a consumer of prepackaged news has been heard from. You really ought to let that box in your living room cool down a bit, and, perhaps, go for a walk.

The never Trumper’s are in a “funk” and they make foolish statements about Trump thinking they are going to change minds.
