Might Just Be More Missing Iraqi Weapons of Mass Destruction Found

, , , ,

In Gaza. In the hands of the al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, a militia arm of Yasir Arafat’s al-Fatah.

The Jerusalem Post reported Sunday (but the New York Times and the rest of the US MSM are pretending they have not read it):

The Aksa Martyrs Brigades announced on Sunday that its members have succeeded in manufacturing chemical and biological weapons.

In a leaflet distributed in the Gaza Strip, the group, which belongs to Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas’s Fatah Party, said the weapons were the result of a three-year effort.

According to the statement, the first of its kind, the group has managed to manufacture and develop at least 20 different types of biological and chemical weapons.

The group said its members would not hesitate to add the new weapons to Kassam rockets that are being fired at Israeli communities almost every day. It also threatened to use the weapons against IDF soldiers if Israel carried out its threats to invade the Gaza Strip.

I’ve clarified the headline, since readers could not actually see my sardonic smile, and may have often read it as a completely literal statement.

Israel invaded Gaza today (attempting to recover the kidnapped Israeli soldier), so we may soon find out whether that Palestinian militia was really telling the truth about having WMDS.

Gaza aint in Iraq dude. Try looking on a map.

Gaza is closely linked to Syrian Hezbollah and Hamas forces. There is a great deal of evidence that Iraqi chemical and biological (CB) weapons were moved to Syria during the runup to Operation Iraqi Freedom. The Palestinians have exactly zero expertise in those fields. They did not develop CB weapons. That means they must have received them from somewhere else. Now where could that be?

It’s great to make assumptions. The point is that your assumption is not supported by the article. The headline here is bogus.

Possibly this claim is a lie. Sometimes, Palestinian extremists tell lies. At the moment, they are under a great deal of pressure, caused by elements of Hamas, their rivals. If the Israelis invade Gaza, these guys will be liquidated, and they know this. They are apt to say things that are inexact. For their claim to be true, there is the same problem with many other claims you have considered about the missing WMDs — somebody who know has them has to act with extraordinary restraint in a situation where madmen are cutting people’s heads off. In this case, the Al Aqsa brigades claim to have more than 20 kinds of chemical and biological weapons and not used them… presumably because they were only desperate enough to use human suicide bombers, but not desperate enough to use chemical weapons in rockets. These weapons may turn up, but I doubt it. Then you will have to find some argument that they were smuggled somewhere else.

I’ve clarified the headline. I sometimes forget that my intended tone does not automatically attach itself to overly terse prose.
