Adm. Jellicoe is often criticized for not pressing the German fleet more aggressively when they turned to run for home. Maybe would have sunk a few more ships (and maybe lost more of his own.) as it turned out the German battleship fleet stayed in port the rest of the war so the strategic result would not have been different; just lots more sailors dead.
It has been claimed that similar bypassing of safety procedures led to the destruction of the HMS Hood in WWII. The Hood was the last battle cruiser built by the British Navy.
