Trump just joined Chuck Schumer and Diane Feinstein in coming out for no-due-process, at-will suspension by unelected federal officials of a constitutional right.
Why bother trying to pass any new Gun Control Law, when one federal agency or another can simply add anyone (or everyone) to a list of people now instantly, abracadabra! without constitutional rights?
What Constitution? What Rule of Law? Trump would say. We have to be smart.
This is where you wind up when you choose a pragmatist unconstrained by principles or ideas as your leader. Of course, we already had lots of professional leaders of the same kind already. They are called liberals and democrats. Donald Trump is the same thing, just appearing currently in a conservative clown suit and pretending to be a brave opponent of Political Correctness. The real Trump is completely indifferent to political philosophy, principles, theory, and ideas. The real Trump is a sociopathic narcissist driven to personal aggrandizement at any cost. He’s exactly the same kind of creature as Hillary Clinton or John Kerry, just more vulgar and with a more limited vocabulary.
So he’s backtracked on Gun Control. Put him in office (if you can, which many of us doubt) and watch him backtrack on everything else, including those promised conservative Supreme Court appointments which you keep arguing justify supporting this orange-faced mountebank with a woodchuck on his head for president. Wake up, Trumpkins!

What ever happened to the presumption of innocence?
If you can’t buy a gun if you are on the “watch list,” should you be allowed to even have access to one or should the government just confiscate them.
Never mind that you might be on the list by mistake.
Paul Doty
I enjoy your principled stand. We need to enrich Hillary even more at the expense of the taxpayers and their security. We need to ensure the Republicans only exist as an evil foil for Democrats until they seize permanent power (which is closer than most seem to realize).
I didn’t pull for Trump, but he’s the alternative to the second most evil person in this country. How Trump could possibly be worse than Obama or the murderous harridan escapes me. What rights and freedoms are going to go by the wayside under Trump that wouldn’t (in spades) under Hillary? It’s difficult to believe you even mention Kerry, clearly the stupidest individual to occupy his chair and Hillary was an easy act to follow. Spare me the infinitely pathetic protest vote.
I would prefer an autistic, retarded, encephalitic fourth grader over Hillary, but you seem to think I just described Trump. Meanwhile Obama’s administration is full of Muslims seeking to take guns by executive fiat, sending people with REAL machine guns to take your guns with your permission or with your body in the morgue and the concern is about something that hasn’t happened yet, though you state it as though it has. I know there are people on the no fly list that don’t know it, yet. There are people that shouldn’t be and our government being what it is, it’s next to impossible to get off. There are also a bunch on it that damn well should be and I’m considerably less concerned about them than myself, but I’m apparently unprincipled.
It’s probably all moot anyway since this train wreck passed the top of the hill and started picking up speed on the way to hell several years ago, in my opinion. I won’t live that many more years, maybe 20, and if Trump can stave it off for a bit, I’d rather die as an American rather as part of the Caliphate or under the Antichrist.
Paul Doty
I mentioned it’s possible to be on the list in error and that it’s difficult to remedy. It’s the colossal government and the partisan Mongoloid children that work in it. No one is going to fix that in a hurry though I would expect the best first step would be to get in touch with your Congressman and/or Senator to get a legitimate issue resolved.
It’s laughable that you seem to think that Trump is Certainly evil but Hillary May not be. What exactly am I missing in your thoughts? It isnt going to be someone else. If the Republicans screw Trump, they screw themselves, though I think they are so detached from reality, they don’t get it. They don’t want to lead, they don’t want conservative principles or policies. They want (some) power and money and pensions and health benefits while giving lip service to supporters. Leadership and RE-transforming the country is hard…and those cowards want no part of it. There aren’t but maybe 10 worth a damn in the House and Senate combined. I presume we will agree to disagree and your write in vote, or Libertarian vote or non vote will cancel mine. As I indicated, it’s probably all for naught. My dad shot down kamikazes during the Battle of Leyte Gulf. I’m glad he can’t see what this country has become.

Man, jump to conclusions much? Meeting with NRA becomes bailing on 2nd Amendment exactly how?
Can we wait to see how this ends up first before going all in with the Trump hate?
Who should he have meet with about this subject Harry Reid?
JDZ
Try Googling: “Never Yet Melted” and “Hillary Clinton”.
JDZ
There was no jumping to conclusions. Read what Trump said on Twitter (at the top).

Yeah, I get it; I don’t need to search. Sorry, can’t stay home nursing my hurt feelings and virtue. Besides, I still hope to be assaulted by a “protester” and get a chance to break someone’s jaw. That would improve my mood.
Roy Lofquist
Tim,
I’m with you on this one. Let’s see what happens.
I’ve been thinking a lot about how Trump operates and it’s simple, really. He’s been using a “trick” that’s old as the hills – the teaser. Previews of coming attractions, trailers, blurbs, “leaked” excerpts of books about to be published, etc., etc., etc.
He makes provocative statements then when everybody is focusing on him me makes the point that he wanted to make in the first place, to a much larger audience.

I suspect the long delay between incident start and free access by rescuers is partly responsible for the large loss of life in Orlando. People bleed out. I thought we learned that lesson at Columbine.
GoneWithTheWind
Between now ans November there will be a full scale assault on Trump. The left and some on the right will burn the midnight oil to come up with phony stories and distorted views of real stories in an effort to “dump Trump”. As of this moment there are two choices; Trump or Hillary. IMHO Trump would have to assassinate Rep Sessions on live TV while pissing on the American flag for me to even consider allowing Hillary to win.
You need to be ready for the inevitable firestorm of lies and BS because no matter what you think of Trump circumstances and history has given us this choice and if it goes the wrong way I do fear it will be over for our great Republic.
Trump is the American William Wallace and I hope for all our sakes he does not meet the same fate.

Actually, what’s at risk here is the Sixth Amendment.

Fairfax, Va.— The executive director of the National Rifle Association’s Institute for Legislative Action, Chris W. Cox, released the following statement regarding terror watchlists:
We are happy to meet with Donald Trump. The NRA’s position on this issue has not changed. The NRA believes that terrorists should not be allowed to purchase or possess firearms, period. Anyone on a terror watchlist who tries to buy a gun should be thoroughly investigated by the FBI and the sale delayed while the investigation is ongoing. If an investigation uncovers evidence of terrorist activity or involvement, the government should be allowed to immediately go to court, block the sale, and arrest the terrorist. At the same time, due process protections should be put in place that allow law-abiding Americans who are wrongly put on a watchlist to be removed. That has been the position of Sen. John Cornyn (R.-Tex.) and a majority of the U.S. Senate. Sadly, President Obama and his allies would prefer to play politics with this issue.

Things are never so bad that they can’t be made worse.
Keep it up Z and the rest of you Trump haters.
NEVERHILLARY
You’re feverishly working to elect Hillary.
The NRA endorsed Harry Reid, too. They are not infallible. I was contemplating donating money to ILA, no way.
Apparently, you haven’t bought a gun recently. The FBI background check debate is over: THE NRA LOST. I couldn’t buy a gun b/c the FBI was overloaded. Did I lose my second amendment right? Yes, but I got the gun a couple days later.
