The metamorphosis of a Republic

This country was not set up as a democracy. It was set up as a Republic. Thomas Jefferson described a democracy as two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch.
No Republic has been conquered by a foreign power but unfortunately has only an average life span of 200 years. The demise of all Republics is brought about when a majority of its people become apathetic and ignorant of their history. At this point the Republic enters its’ second phase of metamorphosis and becomes a democracy. Unlike in a Republic were the minority’s rights are protected, the minorities have only those rights allowed to them by the majority.
The Republic of United States of America no longer exists and has deteriorated into a democracy. This is demonstrated by our present administration’s complete disregard of our Constitution. Today laws that are tolerated by Barack Obama and his administration are allowed to exist and if it pleases them, even enforced. Other constitutional laws are ignored and circumvented on a daily basis by this administration including, most recently and most notably, our immigration laws.
Alexander Taylor, a Scottish history professor is credited with the below:
“A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government. A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover they can vote themselves gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the people will always vote for those who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship.”

No, the above was not written last week by some right wing fanatic. It was written in 1880.
Unless things are drastically turned around, Americans are soon going to have a very rude awakening especially minorities.
