In 1976 I was moose hunting with a friend in Alaska and this subject came up. I said that I would just shoot him in the leg and while he was lying on the ground bleeding I would make my escape. I laughed, he laughed, but strangely he never walked in front again the whole rest of the hunt.

ONEGUY…that strategy might backfire. Your injured buddy on the ground would no longer be a threat to the grizzly. You, on the other hand, running away might be perceived as the threat and you can’t out run a grizzly.
