A Close Look at Trajan’s Column, Completed 113 A.D.

The scenes provide great insight into Roman physiognomy, military dress, equipment, and operations as well as those of Rome’s allies and Dacian opponents. One particular scene depicts some things inexplicable.

Fascinating scenes. One addition: Those “beaks” on the ships are for ramming enemy ships.
