Viral Email Joke Offends the Press

, ,

The forces of political correctness have their knickers in a twist this morning. It seems that a federal judge in Montana passed along this viral email joke.

“A little boy said to his mother; ‘Mommy, how come I’m black and you’re white?'” “His mother replied, ‘Don’t even go there Barack! From what I can remember about that party, you’re lucky you don’t bark!'”

———————————-

The thought police are hot on that judge’s trail this morning. Scott Lemieux’s commenter thebewilderness explains that the reach of current PC punitive enforcement just doesn’t go far enough.

I have a couple family members like that. Not a public racist where it would have a negative effect on them. Just a private racist among friends and family. I guess that’s what they mean when they moan about having to be politically correct.

The beauty of freedom of speech is that you’re allowed to say pretty much any odious thing you wish. What freedom of speech doesn’t guarantee is freedom from criticism. He sent the e-mail and he owns the reaction. Why should the “Party of Personal Responsibility” have any issue with consequences?

Gemz: If someone tells an off color joke or a joke in bad taste the appropriaye “consequence” would be to ignore them or to tell them the joke is in bad taste. Should everyone who tells a joke YOU don’t like be called a racist? Do you understand that the racist chant is nothing more or less a slur and is in fact a racist slur. Calling someone a racist when they are not could well be worse then being a racist.

No Man

“RACIST!!!”

For the liberal liar (I repeat myself again), racism is any communication about Obama that does not support the LIES.
