Sherlock Holmes’ EDC Knife

, ,

H. Clay Aalders, at the Truth About Knives, speculates on Sherlock Holmes choice of Every Day Carry knife.

A couple of weeks ago we shared a really awesome series of posts from IHearofSherlock.com. In them, the author derives a very convincing list of the Everyday Carry items carried by the iconic Detective, using clues from the texts as reference.

In the second installment of the series, the author focuses in on the knife which Holmes might have carried, and settled on a “Winfield Knife” from Thornhill of London.

HT: Glenn Reynolds.

Soon to be banned in London.

Too much useless stuff on it. My everyday carry for the last 60 years is a Rancher style three blade knife. Get the non-stainless steel high carbon blade and it will be easy to keep it razor sharp.

I usually carry a Victorinix Pioneer. One large blade, a screwdriver/bottle opener, a screwdriver/can opener and an awl. The only downside is the blade is stainless.
