The Country’s Descent into Madness

,

When you live to get old, you see a lot of changes, not all of them good. I doubt anybody could ever have predicted an America in which Christopher Columbus, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Lewis and Clark, and Robert E. Lee would be vilified, when the extremist politics of 150 years ago would return with new vigor, when the status of Reconstruction would be reconsidered and essentially resumed, and when liberals would reject Free Speech and the ABA ban books.

Victor Davis Hanson understandably marvels aloud:

Biden’s secretary of state, Antony Blinken, has invited in the U.N. to assess whether the United States meets global standards of justice or, in fact, is racist and in need of global censure: “I urge all U.N. member states to join the United States in this effort, and confront the scourge of racism, racial discrimination, and xenophobia,” he said last week.

That is like asking Libya in 2001 to assess whether our airline pilot training met proper standards or having China adjudicate the conditions in U.S. prisons.

America went from the freest country in the world in December 2019 to a repressive, and frightening place by July 2021. It went not so much hard-Left, as stark-raving mad.

That abrupt descent, too, is not workable and millions will collectively decide they have no choice but to push back and conclude, “In the 233rd year of our republic, we tens of millions are not going to cede freedom of thought and expression to thousands of Maoists. Sorry, no can do.”

Why, there is so much racism here in America that the U.N. should just pull up stakes and leave. No sense subjecting the member states to such terrible environs. I would suggest that they move the headquarters to Pyonyang or maybe even Port-au-Prince. Hey, I’ll even donate $5 toward the cause. I’ll double it if they take Blinken, Biden and Harris, too.

I am still fond of noting that the majority of West Africans transferred into international/Atlantic slavery in exchange for trade goods were those who had no other value, i.e. were hosile, uncooperative, and non-productive. They were either given to the powerful as tribute (Oyo, Akan) or were disposed of when they refused to or were unable to cooperate with the families/clans charged with their care. It is not surprising that the descendants of such a population would demonstrate a similar pattern of hostility, uncooperativeness, and non-productivity. The behavior of the “White” population didn’t make the “African American” population so troubled, the original population was picked for exportation because they were already “troubled”. “Troubled” has nothing to do with intelligenced/IQ. As a practical matter, most jobs don’t require a lot of intelligence. Most jobs require some level of cooperation, persistence, and competence. Apparent “racism” developed in the West, in North Africa, and especially in places like Spain, where for the longest time, the only exposure to West Africans for locals was to that population of “troubled” individuals who were sold/transferred into slavery. Most of those West Africans who were sold/transferred into slavery by other West Africans were “culls” and not the victims of “capture/kidnapping”, thus the current condition of most African Americans is no surprise. The current crop of Marxists is just profitting from the fact that people are too “polite” to lay the blame where it belongs. The problems of “slavery” come from the traits of population that was selected to be slaves by the population that knew them best. “Systemic Racism” is a fig leaf for those who fail because they can’t cooperate and adapt to a modern environment.

Perhaps we will eventually know if the small percentage of “successful” African Americans are descendants of a small sub-population of “kidnapped” “normal” individuals or of the escape of some small percentage from the genetic burden of their fellows. It will be a thrill to study the genetics of a complex mixture of maladaptive behavioral traits in the current political environment. I am glad that I will not be writing that research proposal.

2020 was the year when the boys discovered that not only could they throw spitballs, but the principal would sit by and watch them trash the entire classroom.
