Oh you people. This is war. Whether you agree with it or not, we are fighting a war. This is not political. It’s the psychology of war. You want our soldiers to be sensitive and sympathetic to the Iraqis, yet still be able to do their jobs. It can’t happen. Throughout history, the only way men can go kill eachother and still be sane after the war is over is to dehumanize the enemy. Most men can’t just go out and kill people they view as equals. If you want our guys to be sensitive and sympathetic, they will die in even higher numbers than they are now. Stopping being so damn politically correct and allow these men to sing whatever songs they need to to be able to do their jobs.

I served in Angola in the 1980s as a conscript in the SADF. I recognize Belile’s type; we used to call his condition “bosbefok”, i.e. psychotic. A very cheap and poorly written song.

I like the song. If our boys and girls over there in harm’s way want to make some jokes to keep their sanity, I say go for it. Also, the “Team America: World Police” chorus is great, and blissfully ironic. “Team America: World Police” was about the stupidity of Americans (not all, but many) who think it’s our right to preemptively attack others in the name of the War on Terror.

But let’s remember that our soldiers are in another country. Think about if the United States had a bunch of Iraqi soldiers stationed here, and your daughter brought one home. You might shout some Derka Derkas of your own and try to kill the guy. In this ridiculous joke of a war, the Iraqi people have a bunch of Americans in their homeland. And thanks to the incompetence of our civilian and military leaders, our soldiers are often seen as the enemy.

There’s nothing racist about the song, except possibly the writer (I don’t know if he’s racist or not). But hello! They speak a different language there! Thinking it sounds funny is not racist.

Well, you’re right: before the U.S. invaded Iraq, I could barely sleep at night or go out my door because I was constantly worried about an Iraqi jumping out from behind one of my bushes and killing me. Thank god the government decided to go kill a couple hundred thousand of them. Of course, if they HAD raped and killed my 12 year old daughter or my 18 year old niece, it would have been hilarious, and not only would I be singing along, I’d be hoping to watch it on MTV. And that’s the proof of how uptight this country is, because by now you’d think there’d be lots of jokes and funny songs about all the people who were killed at the World Trade Center, but everybody here is so politically correct that we can’t even laugh about the funniest thing to happen here in ages.

Those that find this song funny should think about how funny it is that a soldier living abroad is not intelligent enough to learn even a little bit of the Arabic language. You people all have an opinion on this song, the war, the goverment, and our military. So why don’t all of you sign up for one or the branches of the military, then go to Iraq, leave your families behind, sleep in tents, eat shity food, get shot at, worry about what your families are doing everyday, worry about being able to make it back alive to see them. And then I feel like you have earned the right to an opinion. This Marine has earned his right serving his country to say or sing whatever he wants.

I am an Army soldier. Currently I am stationed stateside, yet know every day that I could be sent to the sandbox. My husband, also an Army soldier is currently stationed just outside of Bahgdad. They are getting mortared every day. I think stress release is a very healthy thing, and that if these soldiers weren’t able to blow off some steam by singing, or whatever, that they wouldn’t be able to do their jobs. So while you free Americans can sit in front of your tv and have opinions and make judgments about us, we soldier’s are fighting and dying for your securities and freedoms. Take a minute to put things in perspective. Have some respect for our sacrifices.

I can understand that this song is used to blow off steam. It’s fun, let them have their fun. However, in the case of ‘Abir Hamzah, whose brutal rape/murder emulated this song, this was not fun and games. Enjoy the song, but make sure it remains just that: a song.

Let’s see, he’s at war in Iraq, never knowing who the enemy is or when or how the enemy will attack, but knowing that anyone could be a bomber and that death can come from any direction from anyone at anytime and he . . . writes a humorous song about falling in love with a girl from a family of Iraqis that wants to ambush and kill him, like so many have been ambushed and killed before him. I recently spoke to a military chaplain who sat in the audience of the talent show at Al Asad where this was first performed…he described the song as, yes, a way of venting and laughing about matters that people like military and law enforcement learn not to talk about. It’s not their job to talk about it, you see? Nobody wants to see military or anybody sit on a curb and cry that it’s too hard…it would scare civilians. So, they find other ways to deal with it. This is called “de-sensitizing”.

Second, he said that it was a way of going through a process of “de-humanizing” the Iraqis. They are in a place where every little kid and every woman could be a potential killer. This song represents the thought process of the military- “every one is out to get me.” Which, in their case, is pretty much true.

Maybe the part that people here didn’t hear is that the author tried to publish this song. The real reason he didn’t, the chaplain said, was because shortly before the song was to be published, a single marine was killed, and the unit he was with destroyed an entire village in their frenzy to avenge him and catch his killer. Innocent men and women and children were killed because of the de-humanizing mentality. But, I have a feeling I would be de-humanizing also if I lived in such hell.

First of all, for all those who think this victim was an Iraqi, here is a piece of information you always lack, most probably she is not, simply because of the language that was used. But because of your ignorance, you cannot even distinguish the Arabic language from others, and it’s not actually your fault, you’re just brain-dead. These people were able to infiltrate Iraq because the borders were kept wide opened for them. These words/chants are not even Arabic, so, how can anyone base a case when there is no basis to begin with? It is the ignorance and lies that were said and got us to the point of no return.

Second, if she actually was an Iraqi, let me ask all the ignorant writers who wrote some appalling words about how the “marine” should vent. Well, being a marine, there are ways to vent and certainly the ways are not to kill other people. It seems that his method of venting was not writing the song, but killing the family who was defending the girl’s honor and country.

Third, for those who say that the Iraqis are killing the Americans, why don’t you do some homework, and look at the ratio of Iraqis vs. Americans getting killed. Stats show that a number of one and a half to two million Iraqi civilians have been killed to date, since the invasion of 2003, or rather what is called “liberation of Iraq” in the name of democracy. These are the casualties only; no orphans, sick, widows, widowers, people who lost their parents, family members, friends, jobs, and everything they owned, that’s besides the monetary loss, “in the name of democracy.”

Imagine that you’ve been assaulted and your house was taken away…would you turn the other cheek? Hard to imagine it would happen to you…they find it hard to imagine it’s been happening to them for SO long!

You, who defend the killing of innocent Iraqis, are either blind, sick or were born murderers. (Note: the word “innocent” here is key; I’m not referring to those Iraqis who intend to kill us for the sake of killing; those people actually make up a very small percentage of the population. Rather, I’m referring to those who lose their lives because they happen to live in the wrong place at the wrong time.) The Iraqi people do not hate us; they want to live, to live like anyone of us, without the fear of bombs exploding all around them. They want the freedom they lost after the invasion of their country. Wouldn’t anyone want to be free if his/her country was invaded, family killed, home destroyed, sons imprisoned, kidnapped, daughter’s raped, etc. By-the-by, between four and five million Iraqis have had to seek refuge in camps in other countries, because of the irreversible damage we caused. Oh, and doesn’t include the hundreds of thousands of Iraqis that have sought refuge in camps within Iraq, inside their own country.

Iraqi was not involved in any type of violence against us. Those involved in the September 11, 2001 attacks in New York and Washington are still at large, those are the real terrorists who deserve to be killed and their countries invaded and occupied. How long will you stay in the dark? Why don’t you investigate those attacks and see who was really behind them, and who is still a threat to us? Well Folks, life can get pretty complicated and very challenging for those of us in Uniform in times of peace; most of you couldn’t begin to imagine what it’s like in times of war. For those unlucky enough to be sent to the front-line in any war and on any foreign soil (conducting our nations business) one’s future is unknown and as precarious as you could begin to imagine. None of these Marines, Soldiers, Sailors, Contractors and the like, truly know’s what lay ahead and the mere thought of not surviving their current predicament generates unimaginable stress for themselves and their families.
The men and women in Uniform who have families of their own go thru untold anxieties, stress and strain over their separations from children and spouses. Those without families suffer the same pains, whether it be girl freinds/boy friends, fiances and so on. We all just want to do our jobs the very best that we know how and return to the country we love and to our loved one’s safe and in one piece.
The Marine that wrote this song was simply entertaining himself and his comrads with his talent and humor that he felt would penetrate each and every specatator. Living in such conditions, as the Middle East’s desert expanses, and under such extreme circumstances where your next step might possible be your last is next to impossible to understand unless you’ve been there. These guys/girls deserve each and every Americans respect like it or not.
These guys aren’t racist, the song is an example of what is taking place around them and what this one Marine took from his experiences in Iraq. He was able to find a point of humor in the humorless situation he found himself.
Trey Parker and the people who entertained us with Team America World Police made a comical yet politcal statement with their film and I think many of us can relate to their unique sense of humor about the state of the world and how many Americans view it. Funny or not, the Corporal pulled a small piece from the film and incorporated it into what he felt was something that his fellow Marines would be able to relate too and find humor in, and he succeeded. Good for him and good for the Marines who were uplifted and their spirits raised by his efforts. Keep up the good fight gentlemen until your return to the world. Stay safe and God speed.
