Boston’s City Hall

, , ,

The building above used to be Boston’s City Hall, but they replaced it with this.

Sippican Cottage has a few choice comments… and the explanation.

I happened to go to that building sometimes and maybe I lack some sensitivity because despite my taste for old things and architecture I have to confess that never such thoughts arose in my mind. It just missed to occur to me.
It may seem shocking to some maybe, but all I feel while seeing this familiar picture is nostalgia.

Lafayette St. which is not far from this building was my favorite place in Boston, a beautiful city I find full of life and well being. This building and the large pedestrian plaza around it is always crowded with all sorts of people, busy people, students and kids, and tourists. Well, life!
Actually, I really appreciate this contrast between old and new buildings.

Boston, this building included, is a place just like me and so, sorry not to share Sippican Cottage’s opinion.

Boston’s old city hall still stands it wasn’t destroyed. They moved into the Ugly building you show in the article. Unfortunatly they Destroyed old scollay square to build that ugly pile.
