Snake Falls Out of Sky, Lands on Woman — Then Both Attacked by Hawk!

, , ,

Click2Houston.com

A snake fell out of the sky and landed on a woman mowing her yard.

The bizarre incident didn’t stop there. Peggy Jones was then attacked by a hawk.

Jones was on her tractor mowing at her home in Silsbee, near Beaumont on Tuesday afternoon. She describes how suddenly a snake fell on her, wrapping around her arm.

“The snake was squeezing so hard, and I was waving my arms in the air. And then, this hawk was swooping down clawing at my arm over and over,” explains Peggy Jones. “I just kept saying, ‘Help me, Jesus, Help me, Jesus.’’

The hawk eventually ripped the snake off of her arm and flew away with it. Jones thinks the hawk came down on her at least four times trying to get the snake. She says blood was everywhere. Her husband heard the commotion and came running.

“I was yelling and screaming. He didn’t know what I was saying. I thought I was bit by a snake.”

Her husband took her to the emergency room where she was treated for cuts from the hawk and bruising from the snake squeezing on her arm.

There was no snake bite, but she was monitored for a bite just in case. Jones also discovered how close she really came to being bitten by the snake.

“I discovered the lens on my glasses was broken and there was snake venom on my glasses.”

My guess is that the snake is a cobra.

Snake on the Plane

,

greenviper

The Express:

Shocked passengers took footage of the five-foot-long green viper as it dropped down to the seats below.

A university professor who was on the flight told how he helped capture it with a blanket – but showed he had retained his sense of humour and joked he had kept it entertained by giving it an in-flight magazine to read.

The jaw-dropping incident is said to have happened yesterday afternoon during a two-hour Aeromexico flight between Torreon in the northern state of Coahuila and the Mexican capital.

The plane’s pilot was reportedly given permission to make a priority landing when he reached his destination and animal control experts alerted so they could board when it arrived and take the reptile away.

Professor Indalecio Medina, whose video was today going viral, joked: “The flying snake. A unique experience on Aeromexico flight 231 from Torreon to Mexico City.”

He later added on social media: “I had to catch it with a blanket and obviously we gave it some magazines to read for a while.

“The snake arrived alive and kicking, frightened but without having paid its airfare.

“And best of all, priority when it came to landing and animal control experts waiting for the unexpected traveller.”

Bothrops bilineata or maybe Bothrops schlegelii.

PresumpscotSnakeskin

Bangor Daily News:

Westbrook police are warning residents after a large snake skin was found near the Presumpscot River on Saturday.

Police said a resident reported finding a shed snake skin along the Presumpscot River around 3 p.m. near the carry-in boat launch in the area of Riverbank Park.

Westbrook police officers photographed, collected and tagged the skin, which will be examined in attempts to determine what type of snake it came from and what risks this type of snake poses to public safety. …

This comes after two Westbrook police officers spotted a 10-foot snake eating a large mammal along the riverbank in Riverbank Park in June.

——————————

Since June, the snake has developed a following. It’s been named “Wessie.” It has a Twitter page. And the local Mast Landing Brewery created a “Wessie” IPA in its honor. Wessie beer was so popular that Mast Landing had sold out of it as of August 4th.

Rabbit Versus Snake

, , ,

Information is completely lacking, but this :57 Google video shows a confrontation between a rabbit and what looks like a rattlesnake. The rabbit wins. If I had to guess, I would identify the locale as Texas.
